Mariah Carey forced to cancel two more Christmas concerts due to flu: ‘I’m very upset about it’

Mariah Carey was forced to cancel two more shows on her Christmas Season tour after contracting the flu.

On Friday, the 55-year-old singer announced that he felt too ill to perform and canceled his shows this weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey and the UBS Arena in Belmont, New York.

“Newark and Belmont – I wish I had better news but unfortunately I’m still sick and have to cancel the shows tonight and Sunday. I’m so sad about it and thank you for your support. Love, MC,” Carey wrote in a statement. a post shared on X, formerly Twitter.

On Wednesday, the five-time Grammy Award winner canceled his concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the PPG Paints Arena just hours before he was due to take the stage.

“Pittsburgh, I’m sorry to say, I’m coming down with the flu. It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel today’s show. I love you all so much,” Carey, known as “the Queen of Christmas. ,” wrote X.

Carey is next scheduled for a concert on Dec. 17 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, which will mark the final stop on his tour. He has not said whether that program will be cancelled.

The latest cancellation comes after Carey’s hit single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” earned its No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the 15th week overall this year. Released in 1994, the iconic Christmas song has topped the charts every year since 2019 and has sold more than 10 million copies.

Last week, an argument broke out between fans during his show in St. Two men were seen in the video arguing with a woman trying to grab one of them.

However, Carey seemed unfazed by the altercation and continued belting out the song, which ended the show.

In August, Carey officially announced that she will embark on a 20-city tour across the country to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her “Merry Christmas” album, titled “All I Want For Christmas.” The trip started on Nov. 6 in Highland, California’s Yaamava Theater.

During an April interview with People Magazine, Carey shared details about her tour plans, telling the outlet, “I’ve been working day and night on this.”

“I’ve worked with amazing people on this, like Miss Debbie Allen,” he added. Allen, who won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for his work on the 1980 TV show “Fame,” served as artistic director and choreographer for the national tour of A Christmas Time.

“I’m going to be doing songs I’ve never done before, some great songs,” Carey teased when speaking to People. “I have to keep the surprises.”
