Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic earned the ATP Year-End Doubles No. 1 presented by PIF honors as a group for the first time.

Pavic has won this job three times in the past with three different partners. Arevalo is part of the first-year end-of-year duo.

“I’m very happy with this success. If you look at it in a different way, you can see that it’s one year, because the end of the year is No. 1. But for me it’s more than that,” said Arevalo. “It’s a multi-year team effort. I know Mate and I have only played one season, but individually, our teams have worked for many years and I think this is the result of our efforts individually and now as a team. The 2024 season is together as a team.”

The Salvadoran-Croatian team formed a new partnership in 2024 and took full advantage, entering competitions everywhere to earn their place on the double circuit.

Arevalo and Pavic won their first Grand Slam championship together at Roland Garros, one of their four victories as a pair in 2024. They also won the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati, Hong Kong and Geneva.

The year-end team achieved a record of 45-19 and is still active. Arevalo and Pavic tied 1-1 in the Group Bob Bryan match at the Nitto ATP Finals and are on course to advance to the semi-finals of the playoffs at the end of the season.

“This is a dream for me. This is an amazing week,” Arevalo said. “Finishing the year as the No. 1 team was something I could only dream of and now it’s a reality.”
