Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Flights to connect Prayagraj with 14 new routes, says Public Tourism Minister.

Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday announced 14 more flight routes connecting Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh during the 2025 Maha Kumbh festival. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved 14 connecting routes to Prayagraj during the big event. The initiative is aimed at supporting more passengers visiting the city during a major event that usually sees huge crowds.

The minister said that many other routes are still being discussed and some of the special flight services may be introduced before the start of the festival.

The construction work of the new terminal will be completed by the end of the month, said Naidu.

He said the terminal will be opened on January 13.

The Minister of Unions also said that the existing terminal is being repaired.

The government is also working to improve the capacity of the city’s airport.

The 2025 edition of the Maha Kumbh festival is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26.

What is Kumbh Mela?

The Kumbh Mela festival is held four times every 12 years, rotating between Haridwar on the Ganges, Ujjain on the Shipra, Nashik on the Godavari, and Prayagraj, where the Ganges, Yamuna, and Sarasvati meet there.

Ardha Kumbh Mela is organized in Haridwar and Prayagraj every six years.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, a rare and grand event, takes place every 144 years, according to the Ministry of Culture.

The 2019 edition of the Kumbh Mela festival at Prayagraj was a landmark event, attracting nearly 24 crore pilgrims.
