Magic Johnson Praises Bronny James After Denying Him At First

Lakers legend Magic Johnson did his complete 360 opinion on Bronny James and his game.
Less than a month ago, the magician appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and was open about how he thinks the 2024-25 season will go for Bronny after he was selected with the 55th overall pick.
“If I were Bronny, I would tell my dad to let me play in the G-League for the whole season so I can improve,” said Johnson on the talk show.
Then, after Bronny had his best preseason outing against the Warriors in the Lakers’ final game before opening night, Magic went public to express the exact opposite of his previous feelings.
“Laker Nation, I have to tell you that Bronny James is going to be a really good basketball player! Last night, he showed that he has a few things you can’t teach — a high basketball IQ, athleticism, and a competitive spirit that make him a solid defender! I believe that after working hard this season, he will definitely be there for the Lakers and play hard minutes,” said Johnson, when he posted a clip of Bronny James’ highlights against the Warriors.
He then sent a follow-up tweet shortly after.
“Basketball fans, Bronny James is in good hands with the Lakers, who have the ability to develop talent,” said MJ. “Two names I can mention recently that I have seen firsthand are Alex Caruso and Austin Reaves, both of whom are still starting league games today. Bronny will follow.”
Bronny’s performance that inspired the Magic’s comments included 17 points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block on 41 percent shooting from the field in 35 minutes.
In the games before that, Bronny struggled to get shots and his plus-minus was terrible.
His recent outings show that he can make an impact on the floor, and without picking number 55, he can be a great contributor to the team.
