Maggie Smith’s Most Memorable Roles of All Ages

Maggie Smith enthralled audiences with his vast array of roles on the big screen, small screen and stage.
Despite appearing in major franchises such as Harry Potter again Downton AbbeySmith had no desire to be famous. “I don’t feel any different than I did before, and I don’t really know what [being a star] said,” he said during a rare conversation with 60 Minutes in February 2013.
After three years, the actor revealed why he chose to sing on stage over the big screen.
“In theater, you know, you get another chance. You can do it the next night, the next performance. You can probably find it then. But you don’t have a real voice in the film,” he told NPR in 2016. it’s okay. Therefore, I always feel a lot of pressure.”
He was thinking about his work in Harry Potter again Downton Abbey in the 2019 interview with the UK Evening Standard Magazinesaying, “I deeply appreciate the work done at Potter and Downton, but it is not what you would call satisfactory.” I didn’t really know I was doing those things.”
Smith died at the age of 89 in September 2024, one year after playing The Miracle Team with Kathy Bates again Laura Linney.
