Madonna Pays Tribute to Late Brother Christopher Ciccone

“My brother Christopher is gone,” she captioned an Instagram post on Sunday, October 6, with a collection of photos of the two of them. “He was someone I have been close to for a long time. It is difficult to explain our relationship, but it grew in the understanding that we were different and society would give us difficulties for not following the status quo.”
Ciccone died of cancer on Friday, October 4, at the age of 63, his family confirmed in a statement sent to us. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including her husband, Ray ThackerHe married her in 2016.
In her post, the Grammy-winning singer, 66, shared details about their childhood together growing up in Michigan.
“Discovering Dance in our small Midwestern town saved me and then my brother came along, and it saved him,” she wrote. “{My ballet teacher, who is also Christopher- created a safe space for my brother to be Gay. a word that was not spoken or whispered where we lived.”
Madonna and Christopher are known to have had a strong relationship over the years, which he also talked about in his Instagram post.
“The last few years have not been easy,” he wrote. “It’s been a while since we talked but when my brother got sick. We found our way back to each other. I did everything in my power to keep him alive as long as possible. He was in a lot of pain towards the end. Once again, we held hands. We closed our eyes and danced. Together. I’m glad he’s not suffering anymore. There will never be another like him.
I know he’s dancing somewhere.”
Christopher had himself publicly admitted that the two had had ups and downs over the years; However, in 2012, he commented: “For me, we are good,” speaking to Evening Standard. “We keep in touch even though I haven’t seen him for a long time. We are back to being brother and sister.”
Christopher is survived by his father, Silvio Cicconeand Madonna’s other siblings and others Martin, Paul, Melanie, Jennifer again Mario. (Brother Anthony and died in February 2023.).
Christopher’s death on Friday came just days after the adoption of his stepmother Madonna, Joan Clare Cicconedied after a battle with “a very serious cancer” at the age of 81. Joan, who was married to Silvio Ciccone for 58 years, “passed away peacefully” on September 24, according to an online report.
“He will be greatly missed by his family and friends whose life he enriched with his enthusiasm, joy and love,” reads the obituary.
