Political analyst Angela Rye announced on CNN that “white people” should face accountability for “not showing up to save democracy” if they don’t vote for Vice President Kamala Harris next month.

On Saturday’s “First of All” interview, CNN host Victor Blackwell talked about former President Barack Obama’s backlash after he scolded black people for not supporting Harris’ presidential campaign, due to polls showing black men favoring the former president. “This is the first time since he lived in Pittsburgh and used the power of sexism to urge Black men to support the vice president,” Blackwell began, referring to Obama’s appearance in Arizona the previous day. “Should there be a course correction because there is a lot of backtracking in that framework? Rye quickly moved the talk away from the former president, shifting the focus to “White Folks.”

“You know, I think it’s amazing that President Obama is out on the trail of democracy, frankly. And I think it’s a mistake to let White people escape the accountability they have to face by not showing up to save democracy themselves,” he said.

“They want to piss off the presidential candidates, don’t they, if they’re not wearing a flag badge or they don’t see you pledging allegiance to the flag,” Rye continued. “That’s what they want to be angry about. Now, the face of patriotism for them is trying to tear down the Capitol during a terrorist attack on January 6, 2021.”

“The job of saving democracy must be in the biggest country of all. That’s White men and White women. I don’t want to see a women’s march wearing African hats come January if something goes wrong. What I want is to see them march to the polls…”

He concluded, “We’re doing our part. It’s time for White people to turn their anger and attention to each other to make sure they do their part.”
