Larry Kudlow: Mike Johnson is a conservative
Let’s quickly re-elect Speaker Mike Johnson to move the Trumpian blue-collar boom agenda at warp speed. That’s the title of the riff.
This past Monday, President Donald Trump has issued assurances that Speaker Mike Johnson will be reappointed.
In Truth Social, Mr. Trump wrote, “The American people need to be freed ASAP from all the destructive policies of the last regime. Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard working, religious man. He will do the right thing, and we will continue to WIN Mike has my full and complete MAGA endorsement!!!”
Then on New Year’s Eve, entering his Mar-a-Lago garage, Mr. Trump reiterated his support for Speaker Johnson. Listen to:
IRS SETS NEW TAX BREAKS, INCREASES ESTIMATED DEPOSIT THROUGH 2025
DONALD TRUMP: “Oh, I think they’re going to support Speaker Johnson. I think we’re going to have a great time in Washington and I think we’re going to get a lot of support. He’s the one who can win right now. People like him. Almost everybody likes him.”
Add former Speaker Newt Gingrich to the list of Johnson’s endorsements, who said in an interview that Republicans shouldn’t waste time fighting on the floor and that the GOP needs to support the current speaker: “They need a unified Republican plan for the next two years.”
Any number of GOP luminaries have endorsed Mike Johnson as speaker — and happily, let me add my name to the list. He is a pro-growth supply-sider tax cuts. He is a staunch hawk on closing the border, stopping the Biden flood of illegal immigration and ending terrorism here at home. He is a man of the law. He is for drill, baby, drill and believes in Trump’s America First “peace with strength” foreign policy.
In other words, Speaker Johnson is a man of reason, and has become incredibly accessible to the media. Tomorrow, the House will meet to begin the 119th Congress with the election of the Speaker of the House as the first order of business.
I would remind people that Monday, Jan. 6, the House must vote to confirm the election of the president, but without the speaker, the House cannot give the certificate. If the House, and the Senate, can’t confirm, then President-elect Trump may not be President Trump come Jan. 20. Just imagine! Therefore, this is not the time to leave. The GOP House and Senate must start over.
According to top advisers close to President Trump, he wants to see “one big, beautiful building” on his desk in both houses of Congress, as soon as possible. That bill would include tax cuts, border closures, fossil fuel reforms and permits, and strengthening “power peace” defenses.
During the campaign, the union of Mr. Trump was repeatedly promised fat pockets, increased take-home pay, tax cuts, cheap energy, border closures and more. Promises made, promises kept. One big, beautiful reconciliation bill to unify all fiscal policy issues – requiring only a 51-vote majority in the Republican Senate.

Let the blue collar boom begin immediately. The House has already passed HR1. in energy, and HR2. about immigration. Congressman Jason Smith’s House Ways and Means Committee has been working on Trumpian tax cuts for the better part of the past year.
Sen. Mike Crapo is poised to bring big tax cuts to his Senate Finance The committee. The whole bill could be done before the middle of the year, and it will help President Trump to achieve his big task of change.
