Lakers Assign Bronny James to G League Affiliate: Report

The inevitable happened, when the Lakers sent LeBron’s son Bronny to the G League under the South Bay.
Shams reports that he will make his first appearance for the team on Saturday against Salt Lake City.
“James will be on the Lakers’ roster for Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, then join the South Bay, according to sources,” Charania said.
“The organization’s current plan is for James to play only G League home games as he travels between the Lakers and the South Bay, sources said.”
Head coach JJ Redick explained last month that the plan was to have Bronny go back and forth between the NBA team and the G League.
“The plan for Bronny to go between the Lakers and the South Bay, that’s been the plan since day one,” Lakers coach JJ Redick said earlier this season. “(General manager) Rob (Pelinka) and I have talked about that. LeBron talked about that.”
Bronny was the second round, 55th overall pick in the draft. He’s gotten minutes in four NBA games with the purple and gold so far, totaling four points, two assists, one rebound and making 1-6 field goal attempts.
Bronny took the court with his dad in the Lakers’ first game of the season and they played three minutes together – becoming the first father-son duo to play in the NBA together. However, since then they have never been seen together in the game.
The Lakers had a promising 3-0 start to the season, but have since dropped four of their last five games.
It’s not for lack of trying on LeBron’s part, however, who scored a season-high 39 points against the Grizzlies on Wednesday and had several heated exchanges with Ja Morant.
You never know that he is going to turn 40 in about a month.
