Klay Thompson and Draymond Green have been teammates for a long time and won four championships for the Warriors together, but there is no love lost between the two.
Green is looking forward to playing with Klay for the Mavs this season. When asked about the first game recently, Green said, “I’m running on his chest. …He is my brother, but he is not one of us. He’s not among us – he’s with ops.”
Thompson was asked about Draymond’s comments and had a funny response.
“Well, if that’s the case, I’ll take two free throws, and I’m a tough guy so I think I can handle it,” Thompson said on Open Run.
Klay knows how awkward it will be to play at Chase Center for the opposing team, but he thinks he’ll be able to take it all in his stride.
“Maybe it’s going to be weird at first, but once the ball goes up and I start running, it’s going to be basketball again and luckily I’ve had a lot of success shooting in that court so hopefully it translates,” said Thompson. “It feels good to go back and get some reinforcements. Maybe I had a lot of emotions at the beginning but once the competitive juices start flowing I will be trying to do everything to win.”
The first game between the Warriors and the Mavericks of the 2024-25 season will be on November 12.
Unfortunately for Klay, he hasn’t had a great start shooting in Dallas. He’s 0-20 from the field on his first shots, but will undoubtedly improve and become a very good player alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
