Joyous celebrations across Syria after the fall of al-Assad | Syrian War News
Majd Shahoud, 38, from Homs Bab al-Sbaa – out celebrating with his nephew Mohamed
How was the government’s treatment of the people of Homs? It was brutal. Cruel, cruel, cruel. We had no electricity, no water, no internet, everything was a problem.
Yesterday we were waiting for it, hoping for it, waiting for it, the day when Syria can really be Syria. Today is a happy day, it’s like a dream.
My Homs, my soul, my life is Homs, Syria is Homs. We are children of this country, we are one, we don’t want anyone to get hurt anymore.
I dream that we can live like other countries that have won their empires, without fear, without being afraid to speak.
Today on the streets I suddenly saw tears. Tears, tears, tears. Now I see that Syria really belongs to us, now I feel like this is my Syria and when I see them, may God protect them, when I see them coming… they have avenged my brother, my uncle.
They are both lost. My uncle has been missing for 14 years, the same age as his son, the boy went missing at birth.
One of my uncles was killed at the door of his houseā¦ today I feel like we have been avenged.
