Johnny Depp’s Lawyer Camille Vasquez Reveals Why She ‘Never Dated’ Him
A lawyer Camille Vasquez revealed why he has never dated Johnny Depp when he represented the actor when he was tried for defamation Amber Heard.
Vasquez, 40, said More during an interview published on Friday, November 1, that the 2022 rumors of love between the two, were confirmed Us Weekly as lies at the time, they were baseless.
“I would never,” Vasquez told the outlet when asked about dating Pirates of the Caribbean star. “Let me just record here. I have never met Johnny Depp. Never date Johnny Depp. I think he’s a lovely person… He’s not my type.”
Vasquez, who spent four years working on the case of Depp, 61, vs Heard, 38, added that after meeting Depp at first, he realized they were very different.
“I remember maybe after 30 [or] In the 40 minutes I was talking to him, I remember having a strange experience and looking at him and thinking, ‘He looks at the world in a very different way than I do.’ Like, he’s definitely using another part of his brain, he’s such an artist,” Vasquez said.
Vasquez added that “to this day” he had never seen Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the game Pirates Franchise and only knew him for his role in, “maybe Chocolate?”
After Us it was reported in May 2022 that the romance rumors were untrue, People it was reported in June of that year that Vasquez was “disappointed” to learn of speculation about her relationship with Depp. “It is an unethical crime and practice. It is gender discrimination,” he said to the media. “It’s unfortunate and disappointing, but at the same time it’s coming from a place. I can’t say that I was so surprised.”
Vasquez continued at the time, “I care a lot about my clients, and obviously we’ve become close. But when I say we, I mean the whole team, and that includes Johnny. Also, I am Cuban and Colombian. I am affected. What do you want me to say? I hug everyone. And I’m not ashamed of that.”
During Depp’s defamation trial against Heard — which began on April 11, 2022 and ended on May 27, 2022 — Vasquez made headlines for his nonsensical questions.
Heard came out as a victim of domestic violence in 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Although Heard did not mention Depp’s name in the episode, Depp (who was married to the actress for 15 months from 2015 to 2016) said that her allegations of violence damaged his career and reputation.
The jury awarded Depp $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Heard, meanwhile, was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages in her lawsuit against Depp.
Although Vasquez and Depp are not dating, the actor reportedly shared a brief relationship with his fellow lawyer Joel Richas confirmed by Us in September 2022. Rich represented Depp in his UK counterclaim The Sun at that time.
