John Mulaney father is still a girl and could not bet.
After Mulaney, 42, and his wife, Olivia Munnwelcomed their second child via surrogate on Saturday, September 14, and Munn, 44, shared the news via Instagram on Sunday, September 22. The actress took to social media that day to share her joy.
In the Instagram carousel, the actress posted a video of herself patting the back of her newborn baby, named Méi June Mulaney, to help with the baby’s physical activity. When the little girl let out the breath she needed, and fell asleep on her father’s chest, Mulaney could be heard saying, “There she is,” as she continued to soothe the child.
Two additional photos showed her and Munn at the hospital with their new baby, as well as the couple sharing a beachside moment with Méi and their son, Malcolm, 2.
“Méi June Mulaney came into the world on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon🐉,” said Mulaney explaining the position. “We stole many things from the hospital. I love my little girl so much. Méi (pronounced May) means plum in Chinese 梅💜.”
Mulaney’s post went live shortly after Munn’s announcement went live on his Instagram account. “Méi June Mulaney came into the world on September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon🐉,” Munn captioned her announcement post. “I had a lot of deep feelings about not being able to carry my daughter. When I first met a woman who was pregnant, we talked to my mother and my mother. He showed me so much kindness and understanding, I knew I had found a real life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude for keeping our baby safe for 9 months and making our dreams come true.”
The actor went on to say, “I’m proud of my little plum, my little dragon for taking the journey to be with us. My heart is bursting. Méi (pronounced May) means plum in Chinese 梅💜.”
Munn, who began dating Mulaney in 2021 and married her in July 2024, revealed on Instagram in March 2024 that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, and underwent five surgeries during her treatment including a double mastectomy and a full hysterectomy.
In the post, she revealed how her then-boyfriend supported her through the diagnosis and subsequent surgery.
“I am very grateful to John for the nights he spent researching what all the surgeries and medications meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” Munn wrote at the time. “Being there before my surgery and being there when I wake up, I always put framed pictures of our little boy Malcolm so it was the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
Munn’s heartfelt words drew comments from Mulaney who wrote in the comments section, “Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I love you. ❤️.”
