Joanna Gaines Enjoys Late Night Baking With Daughter Ella

In the Gaines household, holiday baking is a family affair!

Joanna Gaines posted a video on Instagram on Thursday, November 28, of him and his eldest daughter, Ella, baking during the Christmas holidays. Shot by Joanna, 46, the video shows 18-year-old Ella neatly packing as they continue their baking session, with four rows of donuts sitting on the kitchen counter.

“Last night baking with my Ella ✨#syriandonuts,” Gaines captioned the photo.

Along with Ella, the Fixer Upper star shares 5 children with husband and co-star, Chip Gainesincluding Drake, 19, Duke, 16, Emmie, 14, and Crew, 6.

Baking with her mother is not the first time Ella has ventured into the family business. In the 2019 discussion no PeopleJoanna talked about how her daughter is “just like her”.

“I think he’s going to follow in my footsteps and put his hand in a lot of things,” he told the outlet at the time. “Right now he wants to cook, be a master chef and own a donut truck.”

For their mother-daughter baking night, Ella and Joanna are seen whipping up Syrian doughnuts, the recipe for which can be found on the website of Gaines’ company, Magnolia, where Joanna also shares a family tip.

“My grandfather’s recipe calls for one cup of sugar,” he wrote of Magnolia. “I like everything sweet, so I always use 2 cups. I love anise seeds, so I always use a large amount. Not everyone likes this unusual perfume, so use a small amount if you like.”

Joanna doesn’t usually bake at night. Back in October, she posted a video on Instagram of herself making sourdough bagels at night.

“Sourdough > Sleep,” Joanna wrote in the caption. “One of my favorite things to do at night is to bake, then eat what I bake👩🏻‍🍳 I love the texture of a sourdough bagel—Like a real pillow of happiness 🥰Dough lovers, what should I try next?”

In addition to their domestic endeavors, the Gaines have their hands full producing four new unscripted shows for MAX. Two shows have already started, including Roller Jama competitive roller skating show, and Human vs. Hamsterwhere people compete with hamsters.

Chip and Joanna are also executive producers of a show called Second Chance Phasewhich gives people a second chance at their dreams, and Back to the Frontierwhere the contestants try to live the way people lived on the frontier.
