Jimmy Butler on Wanting to Live in Miami

Despite Pat Riley’s statement, Jimmy Butler trade rumors are not confirmed and he was asked without saying if he wants to stay in Miami with the Heat.

“Who knows? I don’t, but right now I’m here, so I’m going to make the most of it, and I’m going to compete, and I’m going to win,” Butler said. “That’s all I’ve got. It’s a lot of talk. It’s loud, which I’m cool with. I love that. I thrive on that. But it ends you all wonder.”

Heat president Pat Riley spoke directly about these rumors last week when he said, “We usually don’t comment on rumors, but all this speculation has become a distraction for the team and it’s not good for the players and coaches,” Riley wrote in a statement on Thursday. “So, we’ll be clear – we’re not selling Jimmy Butler.”

Butler addressed Riley’s statement Tuesday when asked about it by reporters.

“I don’t know. We will see. Only time will tell,” said Butler. “I won’t tell you what’s going on, come tomorrow. I appreciate the statement, but this is business after all, I know what’s good. I will not have any hard feelings either way.”

He was asked if he or his agent Bernie Lee had spoken to Riley recently, but Jimmy did not attend. “Next,” He said.

The Heat star also dismissed reports that speculation about his future has been a distraction for him, his teammates or both.

“I mean, I think we’re used to that now — all the outside noise,” Butler said. “At least it’s not about anyone else. At least it’s about me, so everyone can get the energy to go and sing, play for free. Me too, because I honestly don’t care about being sold, where I should go, who’s to say. I play easily in all that noise.”
