Jermall Charlo Vs. Thomas LaManna on the Tank-Roach card on December 14

Jermall Charlo will fight Thomas ‘Cornflake’ LaManna in the super middleweight division at Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis vs. Lamont Roach undercard on December 14 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

LaManna (38-5-1, 17 KOs) is not an elite fighter at 168 and is best known to fans for his first round loss to Erislandy Lara on May 1, 2021. Since then, LaManna has won his own. eight previous fights against hidden low-level opponents that even die-hard boxing fans have never experienced.

LaManna’s credentials have caught the attention of Jermall Charlo, who will use him to shake off the ring rust from a long layoff. This fight has two purposes for Jermall because it is a great opportunity for him to look like gold in the eyes of the fans, as he will get a knockout in the first few rounds.

If Jermall looks good in his fight with LaManna, three-time super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez will be chosen for his next fight in May 2025. Canelo wanted to fight Jermall in 2023, but he wasn’t ready to fight then. Instead, his twin brother, Jermell Charlo, fought Canelo and did poorly losing 12 rounds unanimously.

At this point in his career, Mexican superstar Canelo is only focused on surefire fights against well-known but harmless opponents. Jermall could fit that category nicely if he looks good against LaManna on December 14th.

Former two-division world champion Jermall (33-0, 22 KOs) was slated to fight Demetrius Andrade next on the Tank-Roach undercard on Dec. 14, but that changed.

In retrospect, it was too much for fans to believe that Jermall, 34, would take on a serious fight against the talented boxer/striker Andrade who is coming off a year-long layoff since his last fight with Jose Benavidez Jr. in November. 25, 2023.

Charlo has been largely inactive for the past three years, fighting just once, to face a fighter as talented as former two-division world champion Demetrius Andrade.
