Jaron Ennis: Are You Too Afraid To Climb?
Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis wrote on social media that 2025 will be a “big” year for him. The 27-year-old is targeting the welterweight title to become the undisputed champion.
Some believe that Boots lacks the ambition, courage, and sense of adventure to move up to 154 and 160 for big money fights.

Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) is hoping to unify the 147 welterweight division, having turned down an opportunity to move up to 154 in a major challenge against WBC interim junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.
147: Dead End?
Some boxing fans believe that Boots lacks the courage and desire to do more with his career. He prefers to play it safe, and work hard to achieve his goal of becoming the undisputed champion in the deadweight division at welterweight.
It must be frustrating for the promoter Eddie Hearn for there are many big names at 154, 160, and 168, and he can match Boot Ennis with him if he is willing to risk his career. Sitting at 147 is the fate of Boots, 27, and Hearn more than anyone knows that.
Hearn may be able to land Boots in 2025 by setting him up for one unification fight at welterweight, but not more.
Unless Hearn is willing to pay the other 147-lb champions the King’s ransom, they won’t fight Ennis because they’re unlikely to win. They better fasten their seat belts again to milk them.
A recent botched performance against Karen Chukhadzhian on November 9 may have destroyed what little desire she had left in her body, leaving her the risk-averse fighter she is today.
Hearn’s Wasted Efforts
Karen taught Ennis 12 rounds, boxing, rowing, and thinking of him in front of his fans. After that, I’d love to be a fly on the wall and hear what Hearn has to say privately about his thoughts on Boot’s performance. I highly doubt that Hearn will re-sign Boots once his contract with Matchroom is up because he is not going anywhere.
There are many big fights that Hearn could match Boot with if he is brave enough to challenge himself by moving up to 154, 160, 168, and 175. He has the frame to compete in all those categories, but he won’t be successful. it. Something is holding him back.
I’d say the best Hearn can hope for with Ennis in 2025 is a unification fight against WBA welterweight champion Eimantas Stanionis. It’s about it. Put her back in the middle of the trilogy with Karen after that game.
2024 was a good year but 2025 will be a very good and blessed year for me! 2025 I’m in that mode! Can’t wait ππ«ΆπΎ Keep up the power!
