When Peter Wisdom made his first live action film Deadpool 2it was quickly apparent that the character was a far cry from his comic book counterpart. In the comics, Peter is a British secret agent who acts as a liaison between British Intelligence and the UK superhero team, Excalibur. Unlike the Deadpool film franchise, the comic book version of Peter is a highly skilled spy with the ability to shoot “heat knives” from his fingers.
Although Delaney’s portrayal of Peter lacked the toughness and special abilities that make a comic book character a force to be reckoned with, his performance quickly won fans over with his likable personality and key qualities that make him the X-Force MVP, as long as there are no woodcutters around. As seen in Deadpool and Wolverine deleted scene, Peter may not be the best at anything, but he’s just the guy everyone, especially the Deadpools, wants to be around.
Delaney was the scene’s spoiler Deadpool 2 that when Peter finally met his unexpected and tragic end, the franchise cleverly made sure that Peter’s retirement would not be permanent and brought him back immediately in the post-credits scene with Deadpool using Cable’s device to go back in time, ensuring that Peter would not die during his act of self-sacrifice.
