James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Trailer Pits Son of Krypton Against Lex Luthor

You can check out Superman’s new look — the first film in Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe — above. The high-flying flick is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
The film stars David Corenswet in place of Henry Cavill as the new Clark Kent. Gunn wrote and directed the superhero flick, which stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
According to the synopsis, the film focuses on “Superman who is driven by compassion and an innate belief in the goodness of humanity.” It is not a matter of origin.
The cast of the film, previously called Superman: Legacy, featuring Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.
