Israel’s foreign minister says ‘Beirut is in flames’ after the latest attack

The Israeli attack left “Beirut in flames,” the country’s foreign minister said Monday morning, after a major attack on Hezbollah’s financial assets.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote on X that more than 15 buildings had been hit and posted a photo of a huge fire rising over the Lebanese capital.

He said the residents were told to leave before they hit the sites.

“Hezbollah has paid and will continue to pay a heavy price for its attacks on northern Israel and its rocket fire. We will continue to beat Iran’s proxy until it collapses,” he wrote.

Videos of the attack released by the Israeli military showed the airstrikes that caused the collapse of two-story buildings.

The military said the wave of airstrikes that began on Monday targeted branches of al-Qard al-Hasan, a financial organization linked to the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

The organization controls funds used to finance Hezbollah activities, including the purchase of weapons and payments to members of the Hezbollah military, according to Israel.
