Trainer Tony Sims points out that Anthony Joshua’s recent failure in his loss to Daniel Dubois is a sign that he is getting old, as all fighters do sooner or later when they stay in the game.

Joshua can still win if matched carefully, as his promoter Eddie Hearn recently did for him, until he lost in the final against Dubois. AJ has enough left to beat Tyson Fury next and move on, but it will require Hearn to take him with non-punches.
Joshua, 35, (28-4, 25 KOs) suffered the fourth loss of his career, losing to IBF heavyweight champion Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) by knockout in the fifth round on September 21 in front of a packed crowd. 96,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in London.
Joshua has looked good in his last four fights against opponents, but he lost to Dubois and was knocked out four times.
It looked like the referee was going to stop the contest in the fourth round after Joshua was knocked out, but he changed his mind when he saw AJ get up. Many feel that the war should have been looked forward to.
“He had a great career, but everyone gets old. There are always new ones coming up, and Daniel Dubois was a young man coming up,” said Tony Sims on Secondsout, talking about Anthony Joshua. “There will be a day when he is Joshua’s age [34]and another one will come, and that’s how boxing changes.
“Great champions get old, and new ones pass away. It is part of history that is happening. I believe that is what happened. Joshua had a great career. What he has done for our game is amazing. He brought arenas, big arenas, packing O2 Arenas out. He put boxing at the forefront of Britain.
“It’s a short job. One minute, you’re the youngest guy in the gym, and the next minute, you’re the oldest guy in the gym, and how fast. That’s what I believed happened. Everyone is moving on, and Dubois’s turn is now. One day, it will be another young person’s time. Maybe Moses Itauma that it will come to the table when it is his time. It’s just years, and that’s what happens.

It’s not like Joshua has lost many different fights during his career, and he still has the strength, speed, and skills to keep winning for another decade.
What’s Next for Joshua?
“He is a very rich man, perhaps one of the richest people from these areas. “He doesn’t have to fight, but if he does, he will be looking at Tyson Fury,” said Sims.
Promoters are already talking about Joshua fighting Tyson Fury next, and there’s a good chance we’ll see that happen. Joshua chose not to rematch Daniel Dubois, and will not risk facing Oleksandr Usyk again after two losses. There aren’t any compelling fights in this division that fans want to see AJ take on besides Fury.
