Keyshawn Davis says he will stay at lightweight until Gervonta Davis agrees to fight him. Virginia native Keyshawn (11-0, 7 KOs) thinks Tank Davis is hoping to move up to 140 to say he’s too big and shouldn’t fight him.

Keyshawn says he won’t do that, and will stay as long as possible to get a confrontation with Tank. One problem that could keep Keyshawn from staying at 135 is his size. He is a heavyweight in the lightweight division and should compete at welterweight or junior middleweight.
The 25-year-old Keyshawn is the biggest in the lightweight division and looks like a 147-pounder after rehydration. Due to his youth, he may struggle to fight at the age of 135, but that is not something he can do forever. If you have fighters in their mid-20s, they are on loan.
If Keyshawn is going to negotiate a fight with Tank Davis, he will not be able to use his weight for the “shenanigans” he has been doing with other fighters. Killer there because Tank is the face of boxing and the A-side.
A senior position will be required Keyshawn’s mouth and let them negotiate because he’ll waste all the potential big fights he can get if he talks completely about what he’s not willing to put up with. Tank always had the upper hand in negotiations with Keyshawn, no matter how long he chose to stay at 135 to try and wait him out.

Tank Davis can make more money fighting other fighters in the 135 and 140 than he can against Keyshawn, who is unknown to the average boxing fan. His fans in Norfolk won’t bring things the way someone like Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney can.

If Keyshawn were to move up to 147 or 154 and put up a number of kills in those divisions, he wouldn’t last long before one of them got to him. Keyshawn will be in trouble against Jaron Ennis at 147 and Bakhram Murtazaliev at 154.

Keyshawn can try and stay at 135, but that doesn’t mean he’ll ever fight Tank. Look at Lomachenko. He has been at lightweight since 2018, and it is now at the age of 36 that Tank has shown interest in fighting him. Keyshawn can’t stay at 135 for the next six years with Lomachenko without moving out of the division, which he’s about to do right now.
“I don’t think you want to fight a a new and coming star,” Keyshawn said about Vasily Lomachenko. “He wants to fight a strong star. Someone who still had his way in boxing. I still wake up and come. Therefore, I don’t think that in his last fight he wants to fight someone who is young and growing.”
It is too early for Keyshawn to be viewed as a “coming star” because he has looked poor in two of his last three fights against Miguel Madueno and Nahir Albright. That’s why Top Rank turned around and matched Keyshawn against 35-year-old Jose Pedraza and then gave him 38-year-old Nicholas Walters. Keyshawn is too hidden to see things as they really are.
“He wants to fight a star. Yes, we [Top Rank] He talked about it, but I don’t think he did [Lomachenko] he wants to go this route,” said Keyshawn.
Lomachenko will never waste time with a non-name like Keyshawn, who brings nothing to the table but 20+ lbs, has never won a world title, and is a runner-up in the 2020 Olympics. He lost to Andy Cruz. In contrast, Lomachenko is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion. Keyshawn will never accomplish those things, and he is about to turn 26 without a world title.
