“I’ll be #1 P4P” – Devin Haney, Responding to Beterbiev’s Rating #5

Devin Haney responded on social media when Artur Beterbiev ranked him #5 on his personal pound-for-pound rankings, saying he would be “#1 P4P.” No wonder fans are roasting Haney over his prediction that he will be #1 pound-for-pound.
In order to become #1 P4P, Haney will need to land high-profile fights in whatever division he plans to fight in when he eventually returns to the ring. Some fans question if Haney is only interested in getting revenge on Ryan and will retire after being beaten again by him.
Assuming Haney moves up to 147, he’ll need to beat these weights to become #1 P4P:
- Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis
- Brian Norman Jr.
- Mario Barrios
- Eimantas Stanionis
Beating all four of these fighters would result in Haney being awarded the top spot in the pound-for-pound rankings. He may have to beat out someone else for the #1 spot pound for pound because only Boots Ennis is ranked higher in that group. Haney has fighting size at 154.
So, he could move up to that weight class and take on Terence Crawford, Sebastian Fundora, or Tim Tszyu for the #1 spot pound for pound. Hit the boots and one or two of these guys will do the trick on Haney.
Many fans consider former two-division world champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) washed up after his 12-round decision loss to Ryan Garcia earlier this year on April 20th. Haney was knocked out three times in that fight and looked even. He hasn’t fought since that loss and is now suing Ryan for several things.
They pointed out that Beterbiev, who is the light heavyweight champion, said last week that he does not watch boxing.
For Haney to come back from that loss, it may be difficult because his opponents will follow Ryan’s plan by targeting him with short left hooks to the head. Haney couldn’t block that shot all night and was hurt multiple times.
But these twitter trolls know more than Beterbiev don’t they? I will be #1 P4P InshaAllah

“Devin needs to regain his confidence. So, I don’t think he deserves a rematch, especially with Ryan Garcia,” said Chris Algieri speaking to Probox TV about Devin Haney needing to regain his confidence before fighting Ryan Garcia again.
“I think he needs to find his legs again, find his combinations and his timing. All that will be important as a boxer.”
“I gave Haney a hard time, but I still think it’s soft that he’s surprised, and he’s accusing a lot of different things. It’s a lot of different things, and you hope that one of these things will stick,” said Tim Bradley.
