If you must sing along with Mubi, do it here
In response to the confusing discussion of whether people should be allowed to sing along They are not bad in theaters (of course), Universal is releasing a bunch of screens directly to people who are obsessed with background vocals.
Universal announced today that the exclusive collaboration, singing and accompanying They are not bad screenings go to theaters in the United States, Canada, and select international markets beginning December 25. In addition to the on-screen voices of people who haven’t finished the book, the screens will include a special message from stars Arianna Grande and Cynthia Erivo (who has previously been outspoken in favor of audience participation).
In a statement about the screening, Universal’s president of theatrical distribution Jim Orr described it as a unique opportunity for fans “to be a part of a story they’ve embraced so passionately.” But for those of us who want to leave the singing to the pros, this feels like the studio is making sure we can watch the movie silence.
