After a season-long layoff from Peacock, Knox gave a glimpse of his cameo. “It was fun to take a break from the court game until it was a TV comedy and doing a scene with @zosiamamet,” he wrote on Instagram.

Knox came to light in 2007 when he was accused of murdering his roommate. Meredith Kercher while studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison after she and her boyfriend at the time Raffaele Sollecito both were convicted even though there was no evidence.

An appeals court later found the former couple not guilty in 2011, but they were found guilty again three years later at a retrial. Italy’s highest court acquitted Knox of Kercher’s murder in 2015, and he was acquitted.

Ivorian immigrant Rudy Guede was sentenced in 2008 to 30 years for killing Kercher after his DNA was identified at the crime scene. His sentence was later commuted, and he was released from prison in November 2021.

When he was questioned in 2007, Knox, then 20 years old, blamed his then-supervisor. Patrick Lumumba for murder, which led to his arrest and imprisonment for two weeks. Knox signed two police prepared statements about the case before withdrawing the pleas.

The European Court of Human Rights ruled in 2023 that Knox’s rights were violated during his interrogation, which led to the indictment of Lumumba. As a result, Italy’s highest court ordered a retrial at the appeals court level.

Knox was finally convicted of defamation in June by an Italian court. He was originally convicted in 2009 of defaming Lumumba by lying about Kercher’s murder, and an appeals court upheld that conviction nearly two decades after Kercher’s murder.

Knox, who shares two children with a husband Christopher Robinhe did not serve any more time in prison, given the four years he had already spent in prison following his wrongful arrest for Kercher’s murder.
