On Thursday, October 3, the league announced that it has crowned the 22-year-old Indiana Fever with its highest newcomer honor. After the news appeared, Mkhuhlane send a video with X showing a moment in the past days when Clark first heard about his success.
The clip shows the point guard practicing before the team’s Sept. 25 game against the Connecticut Sun. (The Sun defeated the Fever, 87-81, eliminating the latter from the playoffs.) While Clark stood on the field with his teammates, the league commissioner. Cathy Engelbert he personally called them to deliver the good news in advance.
“Caitlin, it feels like just yesterday that I called your name on stage as the top performer on this year’s list,” Engelbert told Clark. “You wore the Indiana Fever jersey for the first time, and it’s been a record-breaking season for you and the rest of the team, full of great performances – and I know you’ve all had a lot of hard work and dedication, and it’s paid off with your performances, and so on.”

While listening to Englebert’s presentation, Clark smiled and looked nervous. His face was full of trapped emotions.
“I know the best is yet to come,” Engelbert continued. “So, congratulations, Caitlin. She is the 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year!”
Clark then proudly pumped his fist in the air as his fellow athletes surrounded him and cheered, jumping up and down.
Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCafferyassistant men’s basketball coach at Butler University, also posted a WNBA announcement of his “Rookie” title Instagram News on Thursday.

“Caitlin is special. Everyone knows that. He was special,” the Fever coach Christie Sides he told i IndyStar Clark said in a post-match interview on September 22. “He came into the best league in the world. He found his footing. He continued to improve. He has put himself in a position to be one of the best players in this league. He is one of the reasons we are here today.”
Although Clark didn’t take the Fever to the WNBA Finals, she did break records in her basketball debut. He broke the junior varsity record for most points in a season and the single-season assist benchmark.
“I am a hard student. “I feel like I had a solid year,” Clark said last week. according to AP. “For me, the best thing is like I’m just scratching my head and I’m the one who clicks everything I do. I know I want to help this franchise. … I know there’s a lot of room for me to keep improving so that’s what makes me so happy. I feel like I’m still getting better and better.”
