Hollywood Productions and Events Postponed Amid LA Fires
Hollywood productions and industry events have been canceled amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
“The past two days have brought unprecedented risks to life and property from wildfires in many areas, while also placing great demands on public safety personnel,” wrote the non-profit Film LA in a Wednesday, January 8, production alert. “With deep appreciation for the efforts of local firefighters, police and emergency responders during this difficult time, we advise the production community that staffing resources normally available to support film production may not be available during this State of Emergency.”
The statement added, “The LA County Fire Department has specifically ordered that all permits issued for filming in the communities of Altadena, La Crescenta, La Canada/Flintridge and Unincorporated Pasadena be revoked. Further permit revocations are possible.”
Many stars have had to leave their homes, including Mandy Moore, Spencer Pratt, Cameron Mathison and more. Many of their buildings were destroyed by fire.
“I love you, Altadena. Thanks to my family and pets for coming out last night before it was too late (and endless thanks to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets),” Moore, 40, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “Honestly, I am shocked and numb for all the missing, including my family. My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, rated. Many friends and loved ones also lost everything. Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together.”
