Here are some exceptions to the new spending bill approved by the House

House lawmakers voted Friday to approve a newly negotiated spending bill that includes many of the same parts of the previous law — but without the debt limit provisions that have caused confusion for many in the caucus.

Republican leaders shared the document late Friday, shortly before lawmakers approved the spending bill, 366-34.

Lawmakers were looking for a way forward after the first bill was released by President-elect Trump and his allies on Wednesday, and a bill later endorsed by Trump failed on the House floor on Thursday.

HOUSE APPROVED GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN BILL

The bill, unlike the version rejected Thursday night, removes the debt limit extension sought by President-elect Donald Trump, which would have included a two-year suspension of the debt limit.

That version failed to find support among Democrats, who were strongly opposed to the idea, and conservatives within the Republican Party.

The new law includes provisions such as $10 billion in aid to farmers and agricultural subsidies that were included in the previous version of the bill – which are considered must-pass provisions by many lawmakers.

It also includes $100 billion in disaster relief for US residents, including victims of devastating hurricanes in other US states.

“We will not have a government shutdown, and we will meet our obligations to our farmers who need help, victims of disasters across the country, and to ensure that the military and essential services, and everyone who relies on the federal government for a check is paid during the holidays,” House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters before Friday’s vote.
