In a detailed blog post, Sam Mitrovic, security product expert and founder of CloudJoy revealed how he was recently scammed. Mitrovic received an email similar to an authorization notification for the acquisition of his Gmail account. About a week later, he received another Gmail discovery notification followed by a phone call. The call appeared to be from an official phone number listed on Google’s support page. The caller informed Mitrovic that “his account had been accessed overseas, and that criminals had downloaded his information.”
Another email followed, informing him of the issue in text format. Since the email was from the Google domain, it was easy to be fooled. Mitrovic conducted an investigation and discovered that it was a fraudulent attempt to access his Gmail account.

– If you see any suspicious activity about your Gmail account, click on your profile picture, navigate to “Manage your Google account”, then click on “Data and Privacy” followed by “My Activity” to review your activities.
