Grizzlies ROTY Favorite Zach Edey Given Green Light for Bank 3’s

Zach Edey being big may sound like a stretch.
The 7-foot-4 center attempted two (and made one) 3-pointers in his four-year college career.
Edey got into a shootout with Luke Kennard at practice and Memphis coach Taylor Jenkins wasn’t surprised to see the big man mix it up with the team’s best shooters.
“Absolutely not,” Jenkins told reporters, via Action News 5. “I mean, he’s been pouring into work. Pre-practice, post-practice, he goes in at night to shoot. Obviously, doing it in front of a bunch of our fans was amazing to see. I know how much they came up with, but he’s a competitor. I like that he’s focused on going out there, working on his mechanics, staying with it.”
Jenkins said there is no set number of threes he wants Edey to take.
“I think I want the game and the decisions that came to him,” Jenkins told reporters. “I think he’s doing a great job — you haven’t seen it yet — but finding those right opportunities to run, play defensively in the paint, and when it’s an opportunity to go outside — whether it’s following the play or just moving out there — I want him to feel like he’s got a green light. All of our guys. So I don’t want I want to see what he can do right now, and, obviously, once we get into the flow of the game, I’m excited to see him step up his game.”
