Google Meet pronoun setting: How to change it

Joining a Google Meet call without knowing your partner’s pronouns can be difficult and embarrassing if you rely on guesswork or guesswork. Similarly, sharing your names and pronouns on the phone isn’t always possible, and it can be tedious to remind people on the phone after the call.
But Google has made it easy for people to share their pronouns seamlessly when using their popular meeting app. This option is available to business users and users of Edu — Google’s service for educational purposes — whose program administrator has enabled the pronouns feature.

When pronouns are turned on, they will appear next to your picture in Google Meet, in addition to appearing in other products, such as Chat, Calendar, and Docs.

Before attempting to set up your pronouns, check to see if your administrator has enabled the option by clicking on the Pronouns Page. If the option is disabled, you will receive an error message. And remember: this setting is not available to Google users without a business or Edu account.
How to change your Google Meet pronouns:
Step 1: Go to the About Me section of your Google Account.
The About Me section can be accessed via this Google permalink. You can also find it by navigating from your account to the personal information tab.
Step 2: Select your pronoun configuration from the “basic details” box.
The basic information box includes your name, picture, gender, and pronouns. Click on the pronouns to change them.

Step 3: Choose your pronoun.
When choosing your pronouns, Google offers “she,” “she,” “they/them,” and “non-standard pronouns,” in addition to the ability to add custom pronouns. Google reminds users who make this choice to remember that “some countries have laws related to gender expression.”

Step 4: Choose who can see your pronouns.
Google allows users to choose who can see their pronouns. Visibility can be limited to you, your organization, or anyone. If you want Meet participants to see your pronouns, select your organization or anyone.

If you’re having trouble recognizing pronouns in Meet, it may have something to do with how you join the call.
Pronoun updates that are visible to others can only be viewed in Web-based Meetings or Meet calls. When a mobile device user sets up their pronouns and joins a Meet call, you can view their pronouns when you’re on the web. A mobile user cannot view anyone’s pronouns.
