Google Chat now has its own take on Slack’s Huddles

Google Chat enables instant voice meetings — similar to Slack’s Huddles — that let you switch to a voice or video call within a conversation. Google isn’t giving the feature a new name, however, choosing to call the feature “Huddles” again.

If you’re in Google Chat, you can quickly start a meeting by clicking the drop-down menu next to the call icon and selecting the “Start meeting” option.

The call will default to a voice call, but users can turn on video or share their screens, like Google Meet.

The feature, first announced by Google last year as part of an update to Google Chat, will go live today and will be available to all Workspace users in the coming weeks.
