Giannis Antetokounmpo he is loved by Milwaukee Bucks fans, but off the court, only one woman matters: his wife, Mariah Riddlesprigger.
The NBA star and the Rice University alum began dating in the mid-2010s after Antetokounmpo was drafted by the Bucks. The two have kept their relationship private, but occasionally give fans a glimpse of their life together through social media.
In June 2022, the power forward shared several photos of his family’s annual trip to Greece. His parents, Charles again Veronica Antetokounmpothey moved to Europe from their native Nigeria three years before Giannis was born.
“Our annual Akropolis visit🇬🇷🔥,” the NBA All-Star wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of himself showing off his two sons and Riddlesprigger in awe. The couple welcomed Liam in February 2020 and Maverick in August 2021.
Giannis was in the delivery room with his partner both times when he gave birth, and both times he burst into tears when he saw his sons’ faces. “I thought maybe it was because [Liam] it was my first,” said the athlete GQ in November 2021, explaining that he was surprised when he also cried when Maverick arrived. “To see what the body has to go through to bring this beautiful, delicious thing into the world, it’s crazy.”
Riddlesprigger, on the other hand, said he likes to spend time in Greece with his beau and their children. “The greatest thing about Greece is that I got to visit places and meet people who are part of Giannis’ story!” she wrote on Instagram in December 2020. “Learning something new about herself with each place we visit and person we meet.”
Sincerely, the founder of Mariah often supports Giannis in his basketball games, but before their love, he enjoyed a different team: the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Besides the Bucks, what’s your favorite team?” asked one fan during an Instagram Live with the couple in March 2020. “I was a Lakers fan growing up,” Riddlesprigger replied. When her boyfriend was shocked, she added, “I said, ‘Growing up!'”
The 2021 MVP joked that Live couldn’t go on after his girlfriend’s inexplicable shenanigans. “I have to stop Live now,” he laughed. “No, no!
When the Bucks won the NBA championship in July 2021, however, Riddlesprigger was there to celebrate with Liam. “No one really knows the work you’ve done and the obstacles you’ve had to overcome, but seeing part of your journey up close has been such a blessing!” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’M PROUD OF YOU BABY! He is [an] NBA CHAMPION and no one can take that away!”
