Promoter Frank Warren is reportedly envisioning a trilogy of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury will take place before the clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua, provided the Gypsy King wins on December 21.
Warren told talkSport that he expects the Usyk-Fury trilogy to happen before Fury faces Joshua. It would make sense for Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to fight Usyk right from the start of the trilogy if he wins a rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Fury may lose that fight.
Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) had Fury’s number in their last fight on May 18 and was one punch away from knocking him out in the ninth round. Fury’s recent performances suggest he is not in the best of shape, he believes he can turn his winning ways around in a rematch on December 21.
If Usyk defeats Fury again, it will be bad for Gypsy King, and he may have to start thinking about retirement. If the Honorable Turki Alalshikh still favors a fight between Fury and Joshua, it will be difficult unless Tyson redeems himself against a world-class opponent.
Joshua, 35, was destroyed by Daniel Dubois in the fifth round on September 21, and he looked awful in that fight.
