Fraud, without mandate: Two Delhi government departments raise red flags over AAP’s ‘election’ plans
The Department of Women and Child Development and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Delhi, on Wednesday issued a public notice refuting claims regarding the existence of ‘Sanjeevani Scheme’ and ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.’
The Women and Child Development Department said it was informed through media and social media reports that a political party claims to be giving Rs 2,100 per month to women in Delhi under the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana.’
The ministry clarified, “No such scheme has ever been notified by the Delhi government.”
The public notice, published in the national press, emphasized that, “Since this system does not exist, the question of accepting forms or applications for registration under this non-existent system does not arise. Any private person or political party that collects forms or information under this non-existent system. This word constitutes a scam and it has no authority.”
Similarly, the Department of Health and Family Welfare denied the existence of claims promising free treatment to people aged 60 and above in all public and private hospitals in Delhi, regardless of income.
The ministry urged citizens to ignore these promises, calling them “misleading and unauthorized.” It also announced that it will not be responsible for any liabilities or fraudulent actions arising from these false claims.
The statements come in the wake of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) door-to-door registration campaign for two alleged welfare schemes: the ‘Mahila Samman Yojana,’ which promises Rs2,100 every month to women, and the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana,’ which guarantees medical treatment free for people over 60.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seized the opportunity to hit out at the AAP and its national chief Arvind Kejriwal.
Delhi BJP vice-president Kapil Mishra criticized Kejriwal for misleading the public, saying, “What a big fraud Kejriwal is doing with his sisters in Delhi. On one hand, Kejriwal is getting women to fill forms; on the other hand, the notification of the Delhi government. in today’s newspapers says that there is no such scheme, and these false forms.” Mocking the AAP leader, he concluded, “Wah re Farjiwal.”
