If you are here – you are family! Or, something like that. Regardless of what the saying goes, fans of the Fast and Furious franchise will be in for a treat on Netflix next month when the first six movies of the beloved film series hit the airwaves. There’s still a long wait, as the titles are scheduled to arrive on November 12, giving audiences plenty of time to get their fill of the queue before the films hit the shelves.
Six Original Fast and Furious Movies Coming to Netflix
Taking 10 films with 11 on the way, the Fast and Furious film series is one of the most popular in the world, which means that Netflix will definitely see a huge accumulation of viewership numbers and hits on November 12.
While the new movies are certainly pushing the envelope of how modern action can go, the original films hearken back to a simpler time when audiences were there for loud, fast cars and family ties – both by blood and choice – that will never be broken.
The first one
A very original film, with a fitting title Fast and Furioushit the cinemas back in 2001 and took audiences by storm thanks to a dynamite cast led by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. The first release of the Fast and Furious franchise will draw the Netflix audience into the difficult world of illegal street racing and follow the story of an undercover cop named Brian O’Conner (Walker) who works for one of the gangs. .
He is there to do a job and pass the law but after establishing a friendship with the leader of this group, Dominic Toretto (Diesel), Brian discovers that this very different world may be just what he needs.
Directed by Rob Cohen, the first Fast and Furious title will hit Netflix viewers with a killer show featuring the likes of Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Rick Yune, and more – with many key players returning for future installments.
It’s hard to say if Universal Pictures saw the money-making universe they were opening with Fast and Furious but the dollar signs were quickly showing, with the movie grossing a whopping $207.3 million against its $38 million production budget.
2 Fast 2 Furious
Two years later, the sequel, cleverly called 2 Fast 2 Furious they came to the cinemas, and many original characters returned. Those checking out the second title in the Fast and Furious series when it airs on Netflix are expecting a continuation of the first film, with new characters building on the strong bonds created in the first. Fully embracing its heist-centered vibes that would come to define the franchise, the movie sees Walker’s ex-cop now involved in a double-cross involving criminals and police.
Tokyo Drift
Okay, so you’re using the Fast and the Furious movies on Netflix next month and you’re coming in third place – Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. Now, if you go to the movie expecting a lot of the same familiar faces of Dom Toretto and Brian O’Conner, you will be out of luck as the film stands alone as a very different story from the two that came before it. .
Instead of the family audience knowing and loving in the first two films, Tokyo Drift introduces Lucas Black’s Sean Boswell who moves from the US to Tokyo and builds relationships in the city’s prestigious racing teams.
The transition between the third Fast and Furious movie and the fourth is obvious, as Netflix viewers will see, with the studio realizing that their bread and butter was the crew driven by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Going back to what made the movies successful in the first place, the next three installments push the original story and characters and the sixth film, Fast & Furious 6which is the first appearance Walker made in the franchise before his death.
