It has been Tulane, not conference heavyweight East Carolina, that has claimed the automatic American Athletic bid each of the past two years. Head coach Jay Uhlman oversaw the program at the time, first arriving in New Orleans beginning the 2020 season as an assistant before being promoted to interim head coach when Tulane and Travis Jewett agreed to part ways in May of 2022. weeks later the “interim” part of Uhlman’s title was removed and he recently received a two-year contract extension based on the success the Green Wave has enjoyed under him.[…]
