The singer, 77, turned heads with her necklace – which featured part of her knee – as she attended the premiere of her new biopic, It’s Never Too Lateat the BFI London Film Festival on Thursday, October 10. John, who recently had both knees replaced, was joined by his husband. David Furnish at the event.
Furnish, 61, directed the work on John, with whom he shares sons Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11.
“There were times during the making of the film where it started to bother me a lot. “I started having a lot of anxiety and a lot of emotions,” Furnish said Hello! on Thursday at the premiere. “It’s a burden – but for me – it’s also a joy because I know a side of Elton that the rest of the world doesn’t know. And it was important for us to capture his true voice and his heart really, truly, and I feel like we did that. “
Furnish continued to reflect on her husband’s life, adding, “Elton is very open about his death. That is not an easy thing to hear. And he really takes his vulnerability and puts it on the screen for people to see.”
While attending the New York Film Festival premiere earlier this month, John opened up about his recent health issues.

“To be honest with you, I don’t have much left,” he said. “I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I have no right hip or left knee or right knee. In fact, all I have left is my left hip.”
Despite multiple surgeries, John said “he’s still here,” commenting, “And I can’t thank you enough.” [enough]you are the people who did not do it.”
Earlier this year, John skipped the 2024 Emmy Awards – where he received EGOT status – after undergoing surgery. He gave an update in September about how he was “dealing with a severe eye infection” that left him with “limited vision in one eye.”
“I’m recovering, but it’s a slow process and it will take time before vision returns to the affected eye,” he wrote on Instagram as he thanked his medical team. “I’ve been quietly recuperating at home this summer, and I feel optimistic about the progress I’ve made in my treatment and recovery so far.”
John had previously suffered a fall, which caused him to postpone his European and UK tour dates. John later revealed that he was resigning from the tour to focus on his family.
“We have our sons, you know, entering their teenage years now,” Furnish said Entertainment Tonight in June. “We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be there for that. It’s kind of a key decade, I think, in a child’s life. He’s been doing it for 60 years, so it’s nice to have that time at home with the family.”
