Elon Musk skipped a hearing in Philly about his high PAC payments to voters

A Philadelphia judge ordered X CEO Elon Musk to appear in court Thursday morning over his PAC’s plan to give $1 million a day to voters in key swing states. But Musk skipped his appointment to the court after the same judge granted the appeal from Pennsylvania state to federal jurisdiction.

Musk has donated tens of millions of dollars to America PAC, a super PAC formed this summer to support former president Donald Trump. America PAC recently began entering petition signers in support of the right to bear arms and free speech into a lottery for the aforementioned $1 million prize.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner sued the super PAC over its plan, accusing America PAC of “interference.[ing] with the integrity of the election.” America PAC has also been warned by the Department of Justice that it may be violating federal rules on paying voters.

After the transfer request was granted, Krasner asked that the case be returned to state court. A federal judge ordered Musk’s legal team to file a response Friday morning.
