Ellerbe Affirms Davis Vs. Roach Fight Still On Despite Tank’s Cancellation

Leonard Ellerbe confirmed today to X that the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach is still on for March 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) sparked drama this week when he posted this message on Instagram on December 23: “The war will be canceled.” Davis later deleted the message. That same day, Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) posted a video of himself working out, preparing for the fight.

Manufactured Drama?

Some fans believe that Tank is trying to create fake drama increasing the interest in his contrast with Roach because it appears to be one of many cherry picks during his 11-year professional career.

The war has already been postponed once from December 14 to March 1, and is seen as a product that no one wants. It wouldn’t be shocking if Tank kept canceling to keep the fans happy with this match.

It is unclear whether former Mayweather Promotions CEO Ellerbe is still working with Tank Davis or is innocent.

Gervonta or his team failed to consider how his fans would react when they chose light-hitting super featherweight Roach as his opponent.
