Early Black Friday deals from Amazon include the Echo Show 5 for just $50

It may be October, but the Black Friday deals have already started to drop. Case in point? Amazon Echo Show 5 smart display. This early Black Friday deal knocks 44 percent off the price, down from what we saw on Big Day.

This sale is for the latest version of the device, which was released earlier last year. The 3rd Gen Echo Show 5 easily makes our list. We said it “doubles as a star clock.” There’s an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts screen brightness, a tap-to-snooze feature and a sunrise alarm.

While some may criticize the smaller 5.5-inch screen size, compared to competitors, we actually found it useful. The small form factor allows the display to easily squeeze into a busy nightstand or dresser.

The Show 5 has a camera, which is great for video calls but not great for privacy. After all, this thing was placed next to your bed. It goes, however, with a visible camera cover for the privacy conscious. Another disadvantage is that the sound quality here is not as strong as the larger models. Still, this is a pretty smart display for $50.
