Drew Scott’s Baby, 5 Months, Thinks Twin Jonathan Scott Is ‘Mirror’

Now that Drew ScottThe children grow up, they don’t confuse the twin anymore Jonathan Scott.

“In the beginning, we think [my daughter] I just thought that this, like me [and] ‘Why is dad shaved?’” Drew, 46, was told exclusively Us Weekly on Monday, November 11, while promoting her and Jonathan’s new series Don’t Hate Your House and Property Brothers. “He’ll have this look where he’s like, ‘Yeah, [I’m] trying to find out where the beard went.’ But maybe now he thinks it’s a mirror.”

Along with Piper, 5 months, Drew shares son Parker, 2, with wife Linda Phan. The younger child is also not confused with his father’s twin.

“Parker has known for a long time that this is Uncle Jonathan, and when he sees him, he runs around laughing and giggling,” Drew recalled. “Jonathan doesn’t have to do anything, he just laughs and giggles.”

Jonathan, 46, “just loves” his relationship with Parker.

“Even if I’m sitting with him at breakfast, Parker sits across the table every minute or two,” said Jonathan. “He’ll just say all morning, ‘Hello, Uncle Jonathan.’ Brother my man [and we’re] at the same wavelength. I started working on that relationship with my nephew.”

Drew is also able to see his son’s special relationship with his uncle.

“He is a magician. He’s really good at magic,” added Drew. “But to Parker, I’m an amazing magician right now. You think I am beautiful, but I cannot please your children in the same way; they will call me a fake.”

Jonathan is a stepfather to his fiancée, Zooey DeschanelTwo children from a previous relationship. (Deschanel, 44, and ex-husband Jacob Pechenik (shares daughter Elsie Otter, 9, and son Charlie Wolf, 7.)

While Parker became very close to Jonathan, it took him a little longer to bond with Piper.

“It was a journey. At first, he was saying, ‘Who is stealing my light?’ And he said, it’s almost like he’s afraid of him,” Drew recalled. “He thought he was going to come out and bite him, then he started to calm down with him. Then, he started doing this thing where he was like, ‘Parker wants to touch Piper.’ So we’re like, ‘OK,’ bring him closer. He’s like, ‘Oh. Then, you hit her and we say, ‘Don’t hit your sister!'”

Now, Parker is “very good” with his sibling.

“He’ll just be playing and he’ll stop. “He’ll run up to her, hug her and kiss her and say, ‘I love you, Piper,’ and then go back to what he’s doing,” Drew said.

Having two young children — or as Jonathan calls it, “baby brain” — affected Drew while filming their new HGTV series Don’t Hate Your House and Property Brothers.

“Our goal was to help people love their homes,” said Jonathan Us. “Your home has to work hard to make life easier and you see the immature side of people come out and lose their minds, but you also see this beautiful correction in the end.”

The last two episodes of the season even take Drew and Jonathan to their parents’ house.

“They moved from the Rocky Mountains to their dream home up in Banff, Canada and they love it, but they want to have grandchildren,” Drew said. “And coming here, we had to prepare it properly. We found this 100-year-old, Spanish-style home in Santa Monica that was completely remodeled to work for them.”

He quipped, “Our father is 90 years old [years old] and we need to have a place where they can grow old [peace] and make it safe for them and it was amazing. But man, our mother had a long wish list.”
