Detroit apartment shooting

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in a shooting incident in Detroit Monday afternoon, and another man was wounded in the same incident, according to police.

The Detroit Police Department said the two young men were victims of the shooting, the 18-year-old died of his wounds and the 19-year-old was hospitalized and is in stable condition.

Police said the shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday, outside an apartment complex near the corner of Fenelon Street and Nevada Avenue, east of Detroit.

It was not clear whether the two victims lived in the apartment.

“What we know now is that a car entered the complex and opened fire on these people,” Detroit Police Chief Rebecca McKay told reporters during a press conference.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

However, McKay said investigators are still searching for the suspects as they try to determine the cause of the shooting.

“Our prayers and condolences go out to the families,” said McKay. “Like any crime in the City of Detroit, we need the public’s help. If you see something, say something. Just know that if we get information, we’re following up on every lead.”
