DeMarcus Cousins On Why We’ll See A ‘Happy Klay’ In Dallas

Steph Curry is still reeling from the loss of longtime teammate Klay Thompson, but DeMarcus Cousins believes Klay moving on will be the best thing for everyone.
Thompson spent the past 13 seasons in Golden State, one of those seasons with Cousins during the 2018-19 season.
Boogie thinks the role reversal in Dallas will be the best thing for Klay.
“Obviously, Dallas got better,” Cousins told Run It Back. “They added a third part that complements them well. There is little pressure on Klay to perform as expected in Golden State. So the pressure is off in Dallas. I think we’re seeing Klay have a great year. You will be the perfect compliment piece. He has always been with championship teams. I think he has a great comeback season.
“The biggest thing is that we will see Klay happy. Klay is looking for popularity and acceptance, and I think Dallas is the perfect fanbase and city to achieve that. So we’re going to see a happy Klay and that’s good for the NBA.”
Thompson has played in three preseason games for the Mavs so far, but unfortunately he has yet to find his shooting rhythm. He is 3 for 30 from the field so far.
But Klay seems to be there just to enjoy the ride and help the team win.
“My goals are to get better and help this team win,” Thompson told Sportskeeda. “I don’t think about prestige numbers or anything. I really don’t, especially at 14 years old. I have had enough of that.”
Head coach Jason Kidd is excited to have Thompson on board, who seems more motivated than ever.
“He loves to play,” Kidd said. He works very hard at his job. He’s done rapping. He feels he is behind the schedule. It’s a new program for him. So he wants to be involved in everything.”
