Crystal King Minkoff Thinks Teddi Mellencamp Should Talk About Divorce
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Crystal Kung Minkoff becomes real about Teddy Mellencamppublic opinion about his divorce.
“I don’t think it’s necessary for a podcast to be open and vulnerable. Every podcast is different,” Minkoff, 41, told Exclusive Us Weekly at the Abbey’s 15th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 1. “But I think Teddi should be needed? Yes.”
Days after he announced his divorce from Edwin ArroyaveMellencamp, 43, appeared on her iHeartRadio podcast “Two Ts in a Pod” to talk about the breakup.
“For now, obviously I’m only going to share what I’ve shared on social media,” he told the cohost Tamra Judge on November 5. “I’m just trying to — I don’t even know how to brag about this, but I’m trying my best to make sure that my kids’ privacy is protected right now and that we know all of these conversations.”
Mellencamp and Arroyave, who tied the knot in 2011, share three children: Slate, Dove and Cruz. (Arroyave also welcomed a daughter Isabella from a previous relationship.)
While Minkoff has compassion and empathy for Mellencamp’s children, she remembers her former Bravo costar speaking freely about other people’s relationship struggles over the years.
“I think if Teddi is going to go after everybody, she should open up more,” Minkoff said Us. “My thing is that I don’t care about myself but I don’t do that to people. That is unexpected for me. I’m very honest and easygoing in general.”
He continued, “I care about his children, I don’t want that in the end. But I hope he will correct himself in the future, let’s handle other people’s affairs. That’s what I trust. I don’t need you to reveal any of it. That’s their personal life. But I want him to be more kind to other people. That’s what I would like.”
In a previous episode of the podcast, Mellencamp admitted that she often talks about the lives of other Bravo stars. At the same time, he planned to keep the discussion of his separation to a minimum for the sake of his children.
“Being someone who repeats other people’s things, [it’s like]’Don’t be a hypocrite, Teddi,’” she said. “But when it comes to this and the kids, I think there’s just a place … it’s a little different than going into ‘Jen Aydin reveals text exchange with Andy Cohen.’
