Check your account: New benefits, special night credits and more are coming in 2025

It’s always hard to see many of my elite status levels reset to zero come Jan. 1. It’s a harsh reminder that if you want to keep your shape next year, you’ll need to get back on the hamster wheel.

Some of us at TPG have decided that the juice is no longer worth the squeeze when it comes to a top-level position or have even decided not to pursue the position at all.

But for those of us who are really addicted to the high level situation (like me), we need to start the games again.

Also, there are bright spots: Rollover credits, miles or free nights from credit cards courtesy of our favorite programs like World of Hyatt are now available. Also, several programs have new benefits or new options when it comes to benefits.

We’ve already seen rollovers and credits — including Marriott Bonvoy and World of Hyatt stay credits — hit our accounts.

Consider this your annual reminder to check your accounts and make a plan for 2025 status goals.

Delta SkyMiles

A whole new world for Delta Air Lines exclusive members. The airline made headlines back in 2023 when it made a ton of changes to its schedule. While Delta has since rolled back some of the more stringent measures, what hasn’t changed is the end of Medallion Qualification Miles as a ranking metric.

Now it’s about Medallion Qualification Dollars, as you can see from the tracker in my SkyMiles account:

Your ability to choose Delta Choice Benefits is not currently available (at least not on my account). I have it on good authority that people (like me) who had enough MQMs last year to pass their 2024 state won’t see a pick until after Feb. 1.

However, there will be a number of new options in addition to the previous options such as upgrade certificates and SkyMiles bonus.

If you are eligible for a Platinum or Diamond Medallion in 2025 (based on qualifying work during the 2024 calendar year), you have until Jan. 31, 2026, to choose your annual Delta Choice Benefits. Note that you must choose your 2024 benefits by the end of January.

According to Delta, you will soon be able to make your decisions in the app instead of logging into a desktop computer: “Starting February 1, 2025, enjoy a seamless experience by choosing Choice Benefits with the Fly Delta app.”

We expect MQD’s upgrade to holding one of Delta’s credit cards to come in February:

For these card holders, you get 2,500 MQDs at the beginning of each year just for being a card member. These stacks of travelers have a lot of convenient cards. That means if you have two of those cards, for example, you can get a start of 5,000 MQDs a year.

Hyatt World

A qualifying night courtesy of World of Hyatt has already posted to my account. In fact, I got an email about the free night, so check that in your email account if you haven’t seen that night showing up on your tracker yet.

Most TPG employees, however, have yet to receive it in 2025.

Don’t worry if yours hasn’t appeared yet. Traditionally, they all arrive in one week.

You get five nights annually toward World of Hyatt status by holding the World of Hyatt Credit Card. Plus, you can earn two extra nights for every $5,000 you spend on the card.

Hyatt also has the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card; unfortunately, you don’t get any special nights worth holding this card. But you can earn five eligible overnight credits for every $10,000 you spend each calendar year on the card.

By using one (or both) of these cards, you can work your way up to status – or combine your spending with regular residency to raise your status in 2025.

Hyatt is also introducing several new features. Now you’ll have more choices for more stops on your high-level tour. Hyatt Milestone Rewards start with 20 qualifying nights or 35,000 base points earned during a calendar year. You’ll earn Premium Rewards on up to 150 nights per year.

World of Hyatt also ended the unlimited Honorable Guest benefit available to members of the Globalist elite. Instead, you can now earn Honorary Guest rewards through the Hyatt Milestone Rewards program.

Among the options you get are 2,000 World of Hyatt points for stays at select companies, club access awards and Hyatt Find experience credits. There are new benefits for 2025, too. Starting at 20 nights, you can now choose two coupons for seats of your choice on American Airlines.

For the first time in 2024, Hyatt added five Guest of Honor rewards to the accounts of all Globalist members (including those with lifetime Globalist status).

There are five more in my account for 2025, expiring on Feb. 28, 2026. My new suite upgrade rewards have also already reached my account with the same expiration date.

Marriott Bonvoy

Marriott 2025 elite night rollovers. MARIOTT BONVOY

Marriott Bonvoy fans are already seeing premium night credits roll into their accounts. This bonus night is honored by holding a Marriott credit card that automatically awards anywhere from 15 to 25 special credits per year. In my case, I hold the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, which comes with default Platinum status and a 25-night head start per year.

You can only get elite nights on one personal card, even if you have more than one. However, if you open a business card and a personal card, you can get up to 40 elite nights, which is enough for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status (50 nights).

My colleague Nick Ewen is one of Bonvoy’s lucky members. He has already stayed for 40 nights.

This can provide a huge boost to achieving Bonvoy elite status.

You’ll get this special night benefit as a perk of several cards, including the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card ($95 annual fee) and the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card ($125 annual fee; see rates and fees).

Hilton Honors

Hilton Diamond status notification. HILTON HONOURS

Starting Tuesday, we’re also seeing status notifications and status transfer nights posted to Hilton Honors accounts.

If you have Hilton Honors Silver status or higher, any eligible nights in excess of the number required to qualify for a given status level count toward your exclusive status attainment for the following calendar year. That night must be sent now or it will be sent soon.

You can have Hilton status by having the right credit card. In fact, I have high Diamond status simply because I have the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card.

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card information has been independently collected by The Points Guy. The card information on this page has not been updated or provided by the card issuer.

While the card has an annual fee of $550, there are some other perks included: up to $400 in Hilton credit twice a year, up to $200 in airline travel credits (up to $50 per quarter), and a free night certificate upon activation. account and year on your card anniversary.
