Jack Sweeney, who rose to fame with his @ElonJet account on X and has had many accounts suspended, said on Threads that this development “reminds me of all my Twitter accounts being suspended.” The closed accounts, which used publicly available data to show the private jet’s flight paths, first displayed a message on Monday that read, “The link you are following may be broken, or the page may have been removed.”
Meta did not provide a specific warning or explanation for the suspension, according to Sweeney, who says the accounts appear to be “blacked out without the option to communicate or receive information.” In a statement to TechCrunchhowever, an unnamed Meta spokesperson said “Given the risk of physical harm to individuals, and in accordance with the recommendation of the independent Executive Board, we have closed these accounts in violation of our privacy policy.”
