The former United States women’s soccer team player announced her pregnancy on Instagram in May. “Baby Hollins is coming in October 2024!” Lloyd wrote at the time. “It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey to get to this point. We are so happy to be parents! I couldn’t have gotten through this without my amazing husband, Brian. He really helped me.”
Lloyd added that the couple, who tied the knot in November 2016, were “very grateful” for the “support” from their family and friends. He also pointed out that his doctor’s office will “always have a special place” in their hearts.
“My story at the moment is good, but I know that there are other women who are facing challenges in their pregnancy journey,” she continued. “I see and understand your pain. I hope that more women will talk about this topic because their stories have helped me.”

Lloyd shared his desire for “more resources, funding and education around fertility treatment,” concluding, “There’s more to be done, and I hope I can play a part in helping!”
During that time, Lloyd detailed her fertility journey at Women’s Health the subject. “I was naive to think that we wouldn’t have pregnancy problems,” he explained. “That’s how it started. Usually, no matter what happens, it turns out to be a disappointment month after month. I was starting to feel like this was a race against the clock – my 40 year old biological clock. “
Lloyd admitted that she initially felt “embarrassed” and “embarrassed” about in vitro fertilization after a difficult pregnancy.
“But as time went on, I realized that we are all human and many women face the same problems,” she commented. “There is a stigma associated with needing help or fertility treatment.”

After two rounds of IVF, Lloyd approached her a third time with a “completely different” mindset. When she learned she was pregnant, she and Hollins became “for the first time, in a long time” at peace.
Lloyd admitted that it was “not an easy journey,” but realized that “that’s true of many important things in life.”
“I have been told that nothing I have achieved or faced in my football life will be as fun as being a mother,” she concluded. “I know this will change me forever, and I’m really excited about the journey.”
Lloyd previously won gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics and was the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. She announced her retirement from the national team after the 2020 Olympics, playing her final international match with the USWNT in October 2021 with her. last professional soccer match with NJ/NY Gotham FC in November 2021.
