Canelo Rematch? Berlanga’s Wild Wish List

Edgar Berlanga posted the next six fights he was looking for after his March 8 fight, with rumors that he will face the tour. Gabriel Rosado (26-17-1, 15 KOs) in Puerto Rico. Rosado has not won a fight in four years starting in 2021.

Six Battles, No Chances?

He may lose all six fights that Berlanga wants. That will make it difficult for him to fight the remaining five without retaliating against the players who choose to fight him.

Edgar included Jermall Charlo and recently delisted Jaime Munguia. Even those guys are probably too talented compared to the much bigger Berlanga.

Interestingly, Berlanga (22-1, 17 KOs) listed a rematch with Canelo Alvarez as one of his six fights, which seems unlikely unless he defeats a top ranked light heavyweight or cruiserweight.

Canelo will never fight Berlanga without doing more than he can, like beating David Benavidez, David Morrell, Artur Beterbiev, or Dmitry Bivol.

It is reported that Berlanga was put back in the water 193 lbs with his 12-round unanimous decision loss to Canelo on September 14 last year. Brooklyn, New York, Berlanga looked huge in the ring with Canelo that night. Amazingly, he was able to make a 168-lb.

Being that big, he should fight at light heavyweight. Berlanga’s decision to stay at 168 is understandable, but he doesn’t have enough skill to beat even his competitors at 175.

Wish List

“After my March 8 fight, these are the next six fights I want in no particular order.
LINE’EM UP FOR ME 🇵🇷🇵🇷👑👑,” said Edgar Berlanga to X.

Jamie Munguia
Jermall Charlo
Caleb Plant
Hamzah Sheeraz
Canelo Alvarez – rematch
Diego Pacheco

Fighters like Caleb Plant and Hamzah Sheeraz may jump at the chance to fight Berlanga. This former IBF super middleweight champion has tried to fight him but no luck. If Plant tries to fight him, he may ignore him and continue to play it safe, waiting and hoping that Canelo will bless him with a rematch.

Berlanga has yet to beat anyone to prove that he is a B-level fighter. He is not A-level as he looked against Canelo and in his other fights.

Berlanga’s best win:

– Steve Rolls
– Traveler Alexis Angulo
– Marcelo Coceres
– Demond Nicholson
– Jason Quigley
– Padraig McCrory
