Sources close to the investigation said Us Weekly On Wednesday, October 23, there was a raid on the Casa Sur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Payne died on October 16 after falling from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room. The former One Direction member was 31 years old.

Sources said the police intend to identify the employees of Casa Sur who were working on the day of Payne’s death and in the previous days. As part of their raid, they sought documents from the hotel’s books and information from its computers.

Tuesday, October 22, Argentine Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to Us that Payne’s father, Geoff Paynehad spoken to the prosecutor of this case, Dr. Andres Esteban Madreaabout her “desire to investigate and find out what happened” with Liam. Geoff also stated that he will share with the authorities what he knows about his son’s life that may help in the investigation.

Geoff will remain in Argentina “in police custody until the end of the trial and because of his troubled state over the death of his son,” according to the prosecutor’s office. According to Madrea, the office’s priority is to preserve “the privacy of the former One Direction member’s family.”

The singer suffered several times “severe injury” since his fall he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the emergency manager in Buenos Aires Alberto Crescenti.

According to a 911 callthe hotel receptionist called the authorities to report a guest who was “high on drugs” and “abandoned” his room. The caller believed the unnamed guest “may be in danger,” according to the BBC.

Days after Payne’s death, ABC reported that his partial autopsy indicated that he had “pink cocaine” – a recreational drug that often mixes methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA – cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack in his system at the time.

Besides his father, Payne is survived by his mother Karenolder sisters Ruth again Nicola and 7-year-old son Bear with whom he shares an ex Cheryl Cole.

“We are saddened. Liam will be in our hearts forever and we will miss him for his kind, funny and brave soul,” his family told the BBC statement. “We are supporting each other as best we can as a family and are asking for privacy and space during this difficult time.”
